The redesigned homepage: an introduction to the outfitter, its people, and its conservation focus.

The brief

A new chapter, grounded in purpose.

As HUNT CK—Conservation and Knowledge—expanded from Texas hunts into South African safaris, the client wanted a more modern, high-end website. The redesign needed to convey a bespoke hunting experience while giving conservation a central place in the story.

I worked as a freelance designer for TXI Studios, collaborating with an exceptional strategist who provided the strategy and wrote the website copy. My work covered creative direction, UX, all site graphics, and implementation in Squarespace.

Creative direction

Inspired by the field journal.

My creative direction evoked the golden age of exploration: wildlife sketches in field journals, photographs pasted onto pages, and the collected observations of a journey.

I created the site’s graphics around archival-style wildlife illustrations, layered photographic compositions, textures, and patterned dividers. Editorial serif headings and an earthy palette established the atmosphere, while clear sans-serif text supported readability.

Conservation & Knowledge

A central thread throughout the experience.

Conservation appears on the homepage and receives deeper treatment on a dedicated page. Working with the strategist’s content, I gave these themes a consistent visual presence through wildlife illustrations, photography, and a clear editorial hierarchy.

The conservation page provides space to explore HUNT CK’s stated approach to wildlife management, quotas, and habitat stewardship. Its alternating layouts break the narrative into readable sections and connect back to the outfitter’s wider approach.

Conservation content is part of the main visitor journey, with a dedicated page for the fuller story.

UX & content

From a sense of place to the details of a safari.

I designed paths through HUNT CK’s people, hunting approach, conservation content, journals, and pricing. The experience balances expressive storytelling with practical information, helping visitors explore both the expedition and the principles behind it.

Safari Journals carries the photographic language into an editorial listing. The pricing page organizes rates, species, and packages into tables and repeatable cards.

Framed photography and editorial content carry the field-journal direction into Safari Journals.
Rates, species cards, and packages provide a structured counterpart to the storytelling.

Squarespace implementation

Carrying the direction through to the finished pages.

I implemented the website in Squarespace, translating the creative direction, custom graphics, and UX into the finished pages. Working alongside the strategist brought strategy, copy, design, and implementation together around HUNT CK’s evolving offering and conservation focus.
